Sax in the City

I took a shot waiting to begin. Someone started taking plenty of photos of ME once I got drawing, but disappeared into the crowds before I could ask for a few.

Open mic sketching 11-04

Shame I didn't get to finish this one, as I was getting into it..

I struggled a bit at the jazz gig because there were very few decent drawing spots left. It's a much bigger venue than a pub so I ended up in view of a lot of people. I felt much more self conscious than usual. The opportunity to draw different models who are available for much longer, playing more interesting instruments makes it very appealing.

Sketching at the pub, perched on a barstool. I noticed I made schoolboy errors drawing some of the guitars this week. Tut tut.

Folk club..

This is the very talented Sunjay Brayne, who's been nominated for a BBC Radio 2 Young Folk award.

He's brilliant to draw, so I might well look out for him elsewhere. Unfortunately this was my viewpoint for where he sat on stage.. ugh!
That finishes my sketchbook. Next week sees a move to a different format, and hopefully the world of jazz.
