Ronald Searle 1920-2011

As I've been using a fountain pen for the previous outings, I'd spent the last month looking at Searle's work and reading about him; a lot of his work was done with Montblancs. I'm off to the British Museum shortly as they've got some delicious originals in their archives. Sad news hearing of his death, so here's a caricature as a small tribute to the great man. Nobody else could express Rococo like Searle.

His Desert Island Disks is well worth a listen; http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/console/p00935gq (and has quite a few other cartoonists available as well)

The Searle tribute blog has plenty of brilliance, and this interview for the Cartoon Museum show a year or two ago is available to watch on youtube.
